São Vicente Valley will be totally transformed, especially the “7 fountains” area. The natural water that runs down the cliff will be utilized in a more constructive manner - new walking trails will be created for the health-conscious, natural garden areas and children’s playgrounds are also part of the revamping programme. A total estimated cost of €7Million is said to be invested by both government and the E.U. for the enhancement of the area. Today’s press also announced that “SPAR” - one of the world’s largest supermarket chains plans on opening their first 3 stores soon in Madeira Island – namely in Porto Moniz (neighbouring village of São Vicente), Prazeres and Santa Cruz.
