EASY HOTELS TO OPEN UNIT IN FUNCHAL – MADEIRA ISLAND

LOW COST AIRLINES ARE SUCCESSFULLY OPERATING TO MADEIRA WHICH HAS SPARKED A NEED FOR BUDGET HOTELS.

Portugal’s representative administrator for EASYHOTELS, João Freitas of “Best Ecran, S.A.”, has publicly confirmed the group’s further expansion into Madeira Island.   COMFORTABLE, MODERN AND SIMPLE is the style destined for the new hotel in the centre of Funchal.   Easyhotel.com, part of the Easygroup’s brand and owner of low-cost airline, Easyjet intend opening a hotel unit in Madeira by the year 2010.

Easyhotel is the first entry into the budget hotel sector and offers exceptional value at affordable low room rates.  Their first hotel in Portugal is scheduled to open at the end of this year in the city of Porto and will encompass 60 rooms offering daily room rates at approx. €30 for single/double occupation.  The company are also investing in units in Lisbon and Faro on the mainland continent.   Effective October 2008, Easyjet will be running 30 flights per week from London, Bristol and including Lisbon and recognise a demand for their product concept in the Madeiran market ever since the advent of low-cost flights to Madeira.   According to João Freitas, although Madeira has in the past not appeared to substantiate nor reflect a demand for this type of hotel, the advent of Low Cost flights to the island has boosted the influx of tourism and more recent research has revealed that many visitors to Madeira, for example, on a 4- night stay, are increasingly opting to spend the minimum amount of time within the hotel premises. Easyhotels are strategically located in urban and city destinations within close proximity to not only public transport services but local attractions and amenities as well.

Low cost airlines coupled with budget accommodations will undoubtedly also attract and cater for the needs of potential property Investors to the island.
